What accuracy can be reached for the RTMaps clocks synchronization when setting up a distributed RTMaps system ?

Of course the synchronization accuracy depends on the network quality.
Usually, on a 100Mbis Ethernet LAN, an accuracy of some tens of microseconds can be reached.

You can monitor the synchronizaiton accuracy by watching at the Distribution configuration panel in the Studio on the RTMaps slave. The Last applied offset field indicates the correction applied on the current clock.

The screenshot below shows the Distribution configuration panel on a slave computer and a diagram which allows to record the applied offsets using the Property to Output component: this component periodically queries and outputs the value of the SocketDistribution.synchLastAppliedOffset property.

The Recorder uses the tabbed_text record method which creates a .csv file that can be used in Excel for example in order to extract the graph below:

This test has been performed on a 100Mbits ethernet office LAN.
